Scope of Works
Ground clearance, foundation, insulated flat roof and full outer cladding in tongue and groove timber and full-height glazing
Schools need spaces that feel different. When a local school approached Scoop Contracts to design and build a dedicated wellbeing hub, the brief was clear: it needed to be calm, well-lit, connected to the outdoors, and built to a quality standard that reflected the purpose of the space.
The project began with ground clearance and a concrete foundation, prepared to the exact footprint of the building. The base needed to be level and well-drained - an important detail for a structure that would see year-round, daily use. Once the foundation was ready, the structural frame was erected and the flat insulated roof installed.
The cladding specification was carefully considered. The outer skin combines tongue and groove timber with full-height glazing panels. The timber gives the building a warm, natural feel that sits well in a school environment without feeling institutional. The glazed sections bring daylight deep into the interior and provide a visual connection to the outside - an important element for a wellbeing space used for counselling, mentoring and quiet reflection.
The hub has been in active use since handover. Feedback from the school has been consistently positive, and the building has become a valued part of the school site.
